There’s nothing like settling into bed at the end of a long day. While soft blankets are a must for comfort, what really affects how well you sleep at night is your mattress.

Finding the right mattress isn’t always an easy process, and it’s important to get something that’s going to last and suit your needs. But with so many different options available, how do you make a decision?

Mattresses like the Toscana by Magniflex and the Natural Dreamer Luxury Firm by Berkeley Ergonomics are both supportive and comfortable, yet they have their individual features and differences. Stephanie Birchenough, our Online Store Manager, walked us through each mattress to help determine which would better suit your needs.

Features of the Natural Dreamer Luxury Firm mattress

The Natural Dreamer Luxury Firm is made in California by Berkeley Ergonomics and designed to ensure a restful night’s sleep. It’s produced with 1500 pocketed springs, and each spring (also known as a coil) is covered in fabric to prevent them from rubbing against each other and creaking whenever you lie down or adjust your position.

On top of these springs is a split layer of soft latex with posturflo coils in between. Posturflo coils provide additional support as well as airflow for breathability.

The Natural Dreamer also features French Merino Wool quilting, which creates a dry sleep climate and reduces allergens, and it comes in a twin, full, queen, or king.

Features of the Toscana mattress

The Toscana mattress from Magniflex is manufactured in Italy and features a removable organic cotton cover, quick-response memory foam that adapts to your movements, and natural materials like mallow and Aloe Vera extract.

A standout feature of the Toscana is its Dual Core Technology, designed so couples can choose their preferred level of comfort. The cover easily zips open so you can flip your side of the mattress depending on how soft or firm you want it to be.

The Toscana is available in a twin, twin XL, full, queen, California king, or king.

What similarities do the Toscana and Natural Dreamer mattresses share?

When looking at similarities between the Toscana and Natural Dreamer, these mattresses are hypoallergenic and they both come with an organic cotton cover.

It’s also worth noting that Magniflex and Berkeley Ergonomics are OEKO-TEX certified, which means all of their products have been tested for harmful chemicals and substances. Whether you purchase the Toscana or the Natural Dreamer, you’ll have peace of mind knowing your mattress is safe for you and the environment.

How do the Toscana and Natural Dreamer mattresses differ?

A huge difference between the two mattresses is that the Toscana features its innovative Dual Core Technology whereas the Natural Dreamer doesn’t involve any flipping or turning.

Another difference is that the Natural Dreamer is a latex mattress while the Toscana is memory foam. When you sleep on latex, you sleep on your bed; with memory foam you sleep in it.

In other words, your body sinks into a memory foam mattress to help relieve any stress and tension. The opposite happens on a latex mattress where it forces you up, but still provides plenty of support as you rest. When you’re looking for a mattress, ask yourself, “Do I want to sleep in my mattress or on my mattress?”

“I’ve slept on both,” Stephanie said. “I actually prefer sleeping on a memory foam mattress than a latex mattress. That’s my personal opinion, but people find it different. Everyone sleeps differently, everyone has their own preferences, and that’s why there are so many mattresses.”
