Customizable Sofas: Louise vs. Personalize Collection

Blog Home / Customizable Sofas: Louise vs. Personalize Collection
25 Feb 2022

The search for a sofa can be never-ending, especially if you’re just looking to replace what you’ve had for the past 10 years. Finding the right piece that’s going to work with your already-existing furniture and decor can be a challenge, which is why a customizable sofa may be a viable option.

Whether you’re moving into a new home or looking to make an upgrade, being able to customize your furniture means you get to accommodate for your lifestyle. Two customizable sofas that we love, the Louise from Norwalk Furniture and the Personalize Collection from American Leather, are quality choices that can be designed to meet your needs.

So, which one would suit your home? Let’s take a closer look!

Similarities between the Louise and Personalize Collection Sofas

Louise Sofa

We’ve established that the Louise and Personalize Collection sofas are customizable, but what exactly does this entail?

You can choose a configuration; fabric, leather, or performance fabric, arm style, cushion core, wood finish (for the legs), and back cushion height. Whether you enjoy a clean, modern design or your taste leans more traditional, you have the flexibility to create a piece that fits your home.

Both sofas are also constructed with solid wood frames to ensure durability and longevity.

Differences between the Louise and Personalize Collection Sofas

Personalize Collection Sofa

When it comes to differences between the Louise and Personalize Collection, the first one we’d like to point out is their suspension systems.

The Louise uses a drop-in coil system, which provides a springier support. That means when two people are sitting on the sofa and one of them moves, the other person will feel the shift. In comparison, the Personalize Collection uses a unidirectional webbing system that’s fixed to the frame. It provides even weight distribution so that movement is more isolated and less likely to disturb others.

One feature that the Personalize Collection has that you won’t find with the Louise is a bench-style seating option, which you can pair with however many back cushions you’d like.

A few other differences between the two sofas:

  • Cushion cores: The Personalize has two options, high density foam and high density foam encased in down, while the Louise offers its high support standard cushion, called Ultra-Core, with three different speciality options if you wanted to upgrade.

  • Leg style: The Personalize Collection only offers one leg style, tapered, but you can choose either a wood or metal finish. The Louise offers wood legs in three different styles - tapered, cylinder, and block - along with a thin metal leg.

  • Seat depth: The Louise has one depth of 38” and the Personalize has three depths 34”, 38”, and 42”.

  • Tufting: Depending on your style, the back cushions on the Louise can come with or without tufting, but the Personalize Collection doesn’t have a tufting option.

Which customizable sofa is right for you?

If you were to choose between the Louise Sofa or the Personalize Collection Sofa for your home, one significant variable to consider is cost. A 3-seat Louise is around $2,550* while a 3-seat Personalize is around $3,050*. Those few hundred dollars in price difference may be enough to make the decision for you.

*Please note that these price points are based on February 2022 pricing and may be subject to change.

Besides cost, your decision may depend a lot on personal preferences like whether or not you want tufted cushions or if you’d like bench-style seating.

One last thing to consider: since the Personalize Collection’s drop-in coil system is a more traditional mechanism found in sofas, you may not have any issues getting used to it while you might with the unidirectional webbing.
